The Helford River
We work closely with schools and home education groups from all over mid and west Cornwall.
Despite growing up close to the sea, many children in Cornwall may rarely visit the beach, put on a wetsuit or develop their open water skills, let alone have the opportunity to learn to sail or kayak. This may be due to financial challenges, parents unable to have time off seasonal work, areas not catering for special educational needs or being unsure in where, how and when to give something like this a go.
That’s why we exist. By providing both subsidised and commercial watersports sessions on the beautiful Helford River through schools, we help increase access to these activities and the many lifeskills that are developed through them.
All of our instructors are fully qualified, DBS checked and passionate in sharing their skills with students on the water.
We offer a flexible variety of options and packages, including one-off taster sessions, multi-activity days, or a regular programme of sessions. These are an excellent way to build a young person’s confidence and team building skills in a dynamic outdoor setting.
Working towards the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Youth Sailing syllabus, as well as our in-house WAVE syllabus, these regular sessions have been proven to build confidence, competence and resilience.
In partnership with the RYA OnBoard programme, our sailing sessions complement school curriculums and teach invaluable life skills.
If you would like to learn more or find out how your school could be involved with either subsidised sailing or commercial watersports courses, please contact 01326 702326 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
