London Marathon 2026

Running for Purpose
Every Mile for Every Child

Our CEO, Jakie Jewell, will be taking on the 2026 TCS London Marathon in aid of Children’s Sailing Trust, combining her lifelong love of (short distance) running with her commitment to helping young people discover confidence and freedom on the water.

Meet Jakie,
our CEO and CST Champion

Her ‘Running for Purpose – Every Mile for Every Child’ campaign aims to raise £10,000, funding sailing sessions that help children from all backgrounds experience being on the water and benefiting from skills they’ll use for life.

Her Story

For as long as she can remember, Jakie has been a runner. From muddy cross-country trails to charity 5Ks, and the London Vitality 10K, running has always been her space to breathe, think and reset. But one challenge has always stayed just out of reach… the London Marathon.

After years of entering the ballot and cheering from the sidelines, 2026 brings a moment that feels both long-awaited and deeply personal, a chance to finally take on the marathon and to do it for a cause that means everything to her – Children’s Sailing Trust.

For Jakie, this isn’t about breaking records. It’s about running with purpose, connecting a lifelong passion for endurance and determination with the charity she’s devoting her career to. Every mile ahead represents a year of young people learning to sail, finding confidence, freedom and courage on the water.

This is more than a marathon. It’s the meeting point between a personal goal and a greater purpose, a journey thirty years in the making. However:

“As a child, I held the record for Mullion School’s 1500m for many years… just saying!” Jakie jokes.

“I’ve been a runner all my life; 5Ks, cross-country races, the Race for Life, the London Vitality 10K – but the London Marathon has always been the one challenge I never quite managed to tick off.

I’ve entered the charity ballot many times over the years, always hoping for a spot. Then, after a personally challenging year, an email landed in my inbox in December 2024 to say I had a place. And not just any place, but one to run for Children’s Sailing Trust, the charity I’m proud to lead.

For me, this marathon is about more than the miles or the time. It’s about finally stepping up to a challenge I’ve dreamed of for 30 years, about resilience, and about prioritising my own wellbeing while championing a cause I care deeply about.

Running for the Trust adds another layer of meaning because every step supports the young people who find freedom and confidence through sailing.

Training has been both physical and mental which is a reminder that purpose and perseverance go hand in hand. Crossing that finish line will be a personal milestone and a celebration of what the Trust achieves every day; giving children the courage to take the helm both on the water and in life.

I’m excited and a little nervous but mostly grateful for the opportunity, for the community around the Trust and for the chance to run the marathon for a cause that means so much to me.”

For Jakie, this challenge is about something bigger than herself, it’s a reminder that purpose fuels perseverance. The journey to the marathon mirrors the journeys CST helps young people take every day; setting a goal, believing in yourself and finding freedom in the challenge.
