Education Other Than At School
Alternative Outdoor Learning & SEND-Inclusive Provision at Trevassack Lake in Cornwall
To discuss how our EOTAS and outdoor alternative provision could support a young person, or to arrange a visit to Trevassack Lake, please contact us. We are always happy to show you the site and explain how we can adapt activities to meet individual needs.
Children’s Sailing Trust now provides EOTAS (Education Other Than at School) provision from our fully accessible site at Trevassack Lake, Garras, Helston. Our programmes offer a calm, nature-rich environment where young people can learn through outdoor, experiential and practical activities designed to re-engage them in education.
We support students who benefit from alternative provision, including those with SEND, anxiety, school refusal, or barriers to accessing a traditional classroom. Each programme is built around the individual learner and can be aligned with EHCP outcomes, school goals, and Local Authority requirements.
What Our EOTAS Provision Can Offer
We work closely with schools and home education groups from all over mid and West Cornwall. All of our instructors are fully qualified, DBS checked and passionate in sharing their skills with students on the water.
Our sessions help young people:
• Re-engage with learning through hands-on, active experiences
• Build confidence, independence and resilience
• Develop communication and social interaction skills
• Strengthen emotional regulation and overall wellbeing
• Experience positive, structured activities outside school
All sessions are delivered by qualified instructors experienced in adapting activities for diverse learning needs and providing trauma-aware, supportive guidance.

Working With Schools, Local Authorities & Families
We work closely with schools, Alternative Provision Academies, Local Authorities, SEND teams, and families to create safe, purposeful, individualised learning plans. Sessions can be delivered one-to-one or in small groups, and can form part of short- or long-term EOTAS placements.
