The Children’s Sailing Trust helps children thrive and grow, learn life-skills and try something new.

Many children thrive in the outdoors. They enjoy the freedom of being in charge of a boat and learning about the marine world.  But despite living by the coast, the children we teach often haven’t been out on the water at all. We exist to change that, giving more children the chance try sailing and watersports. That’s why we fundraise to keep lessons affordable and to provide bursaries, so those who need it most can attend free of charge.

Learning sailing and watersports gives children of all abilities independence and self-belief. We want to give every child that ‘I did it’ moment, when they develop the confidence to sail or kayak independently.

The Children’s Sailing Trust teaches children of all abilities skills in sailing and watersports, as well as water safety. Children gain qualifications from the Royal Yachting Association (RYA), sailing’s governing body, along with certification through our in-house WAVE Syllabus.

“When you’re sailing, you feel more outgoing. You’re free. You can make decisions for yourself”  – Chloe, Boskenwyn Primary School
