Fundraise for us

We teach over 800 children how to sail each year. With your help, we can teach even more.

We rely on donations for 80% of our income, and we could not continue to deliver our lessons without support from our local community – people like you!

Join a CST Challenge…

We run fundraising events through the year, so why not take part with a friend, members of your family or a workplace team and find sponsors? See our events page for information about our Lap the Lake challenge and Big Sail.

Or hold your own event

There are many fun and challenging ways to raise funds. You could hold a sponsored quiz night, a coffee morning, a bake sale, run a marathon or half marathon, hold a garden party, have a garage sale or take part in a bike ride.

For more ideas and a ‘how to’ guide on running an event, download our fundraising information sheets here.

Next Steps

If you let us know about the event you are planning, we’ll promote it through the Children’s Sailing Trust social media pages and e-newsletter. Please call us on 01326 702326 or email hello@childrenssailingtrust.org.uk

Once you’ve held your event, you can make a donation using our online donation form, at a bank or by sending a cheque. Details of ways to make payment are included in our fundraising pack.

Any donations received through collections at your event are eligible for Gift Aid under the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme, which means we will receive an additional 25% extra from the donations made.

For more information about Gift Aid, please see our Gift Aid Frequently Asked Questions.

Sponsorship

You can collect donations for fundraising challenges using our sponsorship forms.

In order to qualify for Gift Aid, the sponsorship form must be completed for a specific fundraising event, on a specific day. All sponsors must complete their title, name, surname, full address and postcode. Full details about Gift Aid and sponsorship, please see our Frequently Asked Questions.

Any donations received through collections are eligible for Gift Aid under the Gift Aid Small Donations Scheme, which means we will receive an additional 25% for donations made at no extra cost to you.

Fundraising during Covid-19

During 2020, many fundraising challenges have taken place online. Some of our fundraising ideas could be done virtually with family, friends, or in school class ‘bubbles’ to maintain social distancing while raising money for a good cause.

Other easy ways to support are to pledge to donate the cost of your commute for a week, or the cost of a daily takeaway coffee. You can also sign up to one of the online shopping and donation platforms the Children’s Sailing Trust is registered with.

Fundraising online

Once you’ve set up a user account with Just Giving, run a search for the Children’s Sailing Trust to see the campaigns that we’re running and link your fundraising challenge to the campaign of your choice. You’ll then be asked what type of fundraising activity you want to do.

For more information about setting up your Just Giving page and fundraising tips, please click on the button below.

Donors can make a Gift Aid declaration through Just Giving and the Children’s Sailing Trust receives a proportion of the Gift Aid from the platform at no extra cost to the donor.

Online shopping and Free Donations

You can raise free funds for the Children’s Sailing Trust by using the online shopping charity donation websites Easyfundraising, Give as you Live and Amazon Smile.
