Activity Joining Instructions - Trevassack Lake

Number one

Where to find us: Trevassack Lake

Trevassack Lake is situated on the Lizard Peninsula, between Garras and Goonhilly, about 5 miles south of Helston.

Once you’ve driven through Garras, turn right at the brown and white tourist sign called “Trevassack Lake & Cafe”, almost opposite two large granite gateposts to Trelowarren and follow the road carefully for half a mile. Ignore the small Trevassack sign to the farm on your right, instead you will come to the entrance to Trevassack Lake, clearly signed on your left with a sail boat planter just before the car park. Please park in the main car park and follow the path past the barrier down around to the lake. The first building on your left as you round the corner is the Watersports Hub.

When you get here:

Upon Arrival

Please sign at the Watersports Hub. There you will be introduced to your instructor or directed to the course meeting point.

We recommend arriving 15 minutes before the course start time.

 

Late Arrivals, Pick Up or Unattendance

If you need to report an absence or delay please contact us as soon possible by contacting the CST office on 01326 702326 as it can affect operational decisions.

Please note – if you are late or unable to make the session start time we may not be able to take you on the session. Any missed timings may affect the course outcome.

 

Changing Facilities, Toilets & Lockers

At the lake we have plenty of changing facilities with showers and toilets and two registered ‘Changing Places’. We have lockers available upon request.

Number three

What you need:

CST will provide buoyancy aids or lifejackets and access to helmets (there may be times the Duty Officer insists helmets are worn for safety) free of charge to those on our courses. We also have wetsuits and wet shoes available for children (limited adult sizes) at the lake but do bring your own if you would be more comfortable.

As a minimum, please bring to all CST sessions:

  • Any medication
  • Refreshments
    Packed lunch, snacks and bottle of water/squash 
  • Weather appropriate clothing:
    Hat (woolly or sun)
    Gloves
    Sun cream
  • Wetsuit
    We have wetsuits and wet shoes available for children (limited adult sizes) at the lake but do bring your own if you would be more comfortable.
  • Footwear
    Shoes you don’t mind getting wet like wellies, trainers, sailing boots – flips flops, crocs or bare feet are not permitted.
  • Spare change of clothes
  • Towel
  • Passport photo (PB2 students only)
  • Please don’t bring valuables. We cannot be held responsible for loss of jewellery, phones, watches etc.
  • Any personal logbook
    We provide a logbook when you start RYA Stage 1
